Akan Zhylkyshybaevich graduated from the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory, the Almaty Academy of Economics and Statistics, and Zhetysu State University named after I. Zhansugurov.

He began his professional career in 1996 as a performer at the Suyunbai Almaty Regional Philharmonic.
