TOKYLDAK is a percussion musical instrument with a special sound. Like any other percussion instrument, it is made of solid wood and there are different forms depending on the application. Tokyldak with its special sound accompanies many Kazakh compositions. For example, the “Otyrar sazy” orchestra founded by Nurgisa Tlendiev begins the kui “Ata tolgauy” with the echo of this instrument. Making the instrument: Manufacturing technology is simple for craftsmen. The instrument, deepened on one side, at first completely ground, then dried. During drying, the sound and instrument echo are amplified. It has a special wand for the playing and a sound hole. Palm or fingers clicking on this hole can diversify and enhance the sound. The instrument is made from solid wood with a rounded end on top. The thinner the edges, the stronger the sound.
