SYBYZGY is a wind musical instrument of the Kazakh people. It is made from reeds and wood. It has a pleasant natural sound, the sound is soft. A hemp and jaunt were used for the manufacture. Hemp grows on the northern slope of a high mountain, a sisymbrium on the northern slope of the Altai, Tien Shan, where the deers live. Also, the instrument was made of wood without branches, from which unines are made, separated and cleaned from the core, then connected back.
Making the instrument: Making it does not take a long time: an experienced master will make it in 10-15 minutes. To do this, cut a reed length of 500-700 mm, cut out holes in three or four places. To make the air flow easier, the end was sharp on one side. For a better sound, the instrument was wetted before the playing.
The traditional pattern is made from kurai. The performers often made their own instruments themselves, and each contributed their own technique, patterns. Use ripened and straight chickens. Some performers measure their eyes, others use a span and cut off a kurai 7-8 in length. This method is often used by Bashkir kuraiists.
Legend about the sybyzgy: Most wind instruments of the sybyzgy family made of cane can be found in many legends of the Turkic peoples. For example, the appearance of the Kazakh sybyzgy, the Bashkir kurai, the Turkmen tuiduk is associated with the legend of King Alexander the Great.
King Alexander the Great had two horns on his head. But no one knew about this. Because he chopped off the heads of everyone who cut his hair. The explanation for this is that in one dream, Alexander dreamed “If, in addition to his hairdresser, someone else finds out about his two horns, then he will lose his life”. After this, he executed everyone who dealt with his hair. After that, there was no good master left who could cut the Great King. Once the turn came to the son of his beloved man. Then Alexander ordered his subordinates to send to a distant, uninhabited place and leave him there. The boy searched for a long way back home. But one day next to the cliff he heard a sound from the reed. When he got to the sound, it became clear that the sound was coming from the reed in which the worm made a hole.
Every time a wind blows through a hole, the sound of a cliff breaks. The boy crossed the cliff and began to blow into the reed, then even more beautiful music came out. Having made sybyzgy from reed, he sang a melody. The hunters, having heard the music, found the boy and safely drove the child to their homeland. The boy told this story to the people. The mystery of the Great King was revealed; on the same day, Alexander the Great took leave of by this world.
