The grand opening ceremony of the 79th Coupe Mondiale Accordion Competition was held in Astana.

The ceremony was attended by the Vice Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the leadership and delegates of the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA), members of the international jury, competition participants, Kazakh and international music professionals, as well as members of the public and art enthusiasts.

Aibek Sydykov, Vice Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, took part in the opening ceremony and conveyed a congratulatory letter from Aida Balayeva, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Minister of Culture and Information, to the guests and participants of the event.

In her letter, Aida Balayeva noted that hosting one of the world’s most prestigious competitions in the field of music, the “Coupe Mondiale,” in Kazakhstan is a clear testament to the systematic efforts aimed at developing the country’s cultural sector and strengthening international creative ties.

“This is a landmark event not only for Kazakhstan but also for the cultural life of the entire Central Asian region. For many years, the competition, which brings together the finest performers from around the world, has served as a prestigious platform for demonstrating professional excellence and pursuing artistic innovation. This year, the participation of representatives from nearly 40 countries — outstanding performers and talented young musicians, experts, and official delegations — confirms its international status. The arrival of the leadership and distinguished representatives of the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes in our country is also evidence of the high level of trust in Kazakhstan’s cultural potential. This opens up new opportunities for young Kazakh musicians to enhance their professional skills, gain international experience, and take their place on the world stage,” the letter stated.

The “Coupe Mondiale,” regarded as one of the most prestigious competitions in the world of bayan and accordion music, is being held in Kazakhstan and Central Asia for the first time this year. The international competition has brought together professional performers, music specialists, international experts, and renowned figures in bayan and accordion music in the capital.

The competition is organized with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan by the State Academic Concert Organization “Qazaqconcert” named after Roza Baglanova. Halyk Bank is the main sponsor of the competition.
